RESOURCES FOR WERB’S GROUP LEADERS

Thank you Werb’s Group leaders for all the ways that you love and support people in your groups. You are all amazing! Below you will find a number of suggested resources you may like to use in your groups. However, feel free to use an entirely different resource not listed here - if you come across anything that you think other groups will benefit from, please let me know and we can share the material.

RESOURCE LIBRARY (Coming Soon)

When it is safe to do so, there will be a number of book resources available to use with your group. These will be located by the Welcome Desk in church and you will be required to sign them out. If you have any resources that you are willing to donate to this library, please can you kindly let Jeff know.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCES

Although the “right” resources depends on your group, below are some great options to check out. Werbs is responsible for buying the main study materials but some resources require you to purchase an optional book to get the most out of the study. However, please speak to Jeff before you buy as we may be able to purchase these at a reduced price or offer the material free of charge. Also, the other exciting thing is that some of these resources are available in different languages so please check on their websites if that is what you require.

The Bible Course

Whether you’re well versed in Scripture or new to the Bible, The Bible Course offers a superb overview of the world’s best-selling book. There is a specific option to run this course online so please let Jeff know if your group is in-person or online so he can provide you with the correct resource. To get the most out of this study, it is recommended that every member has a manual, which are purchased separately. However, the manuals are not mandatory. There is also a guide in running this study.

Everyday Supernatural

Most Christians believe in God's power, yet few see evidence of the supernatural in their everyday lives. In this 9 week study, explore what it means to live a Spirit-filled life. If you're pressed for time, this study can be done in 6 weeks (see guide). To get the most of this study, encourage everyone in your group to read a chapter a week from the book "Everyday Supernatural", discuss the questions together when you meet, and then leave plenty of time to put some of what you’re learning into practice. Alternatively, there are videos available on Youtube that follow the chapters of the book that you can also use in addition to/instead of reading the chapters. Links will be provided. I highly recommend you download the small group guide, which can be found here. Buy the paperback book below or you can get a Kindle edition for less than £2.00.

The Prayer Course II

A Lent resource seeking to look at the four big questions we all ask when confronted with suffering; “How am I going to get through this?”, “Why aren’t my prayers working?", “Where is God when heaven is silent?”, and “When will my prayers be answered?” This study is powerful and honest but it has been suggested that it is possibly not ideal with new groups. Please check out the sessions and questions beforehand to decide if this is suitable for your particular group.

Discipleship Explored

Discipleship Explored helps followers of Jesus turn up the gospel soundtrack to their lives. It goes beyond simply teaching the right moves - go to church, pray, read the Bible, share the gospel - and focuses on the music which drives discipleship: the love of Christ. The greatest love anyone can ever know. This eight-session journey through Paul’s letter to the Philippians is ideal for believers at any stage of the Christian life.

Can’t find a resource that you think will work with your group?

The above resources are just recommendations but if you can’t find what you’re looking then just drop Jeff an email and he’s more than happy to help you find material that will work for your group.

Want to lead or co-lead a Werb’s Group?

Leading a small group can seem daunting at first, especially if you’ve never done it before! But don’t let that put you off. If you feel a prompting to step out and lead, co-lead or facilitate a Werb's Group then chat to Jeff. Likewise, we are always looking to expand and diversify our Werb's Groups. For example, if you would like to lead an online group for parents with small children, or a bitesize (45mins) group that meets over lunch for those who work in the city, or maybe something entirely different, then bring your ideas to the table. Drop Jeff an email and explore your ideas together.
