COMING HOME
VISION STATEMENT
It’s week 4 of our vision statement series! How are doing with learning about it?
I challenged you last week to try and remember it by heart and record yourself. Did you manage to do so?
Let’s see how good you’re doing with remembering it. Try to fill in the gaps below!
Was that easy or hard? Now, try filling in these gaps!!
GREAT JOB!
Remember we’re wanting for us all to understand why this is our vision and hope you will join in with us and help us to be an authentic community which is Christ-centred that transforms the city and beyond!
But before we go any further…LET’S PLAY A GAME!
This week we’re looking at the topic of home.
Here are some homes or houses which you might recognise!
Can you work out who these belong to!?
Did you manage to remember who the homes belong to?
The first one is the house from UP! It belongs to Mr Fredrickson!
The next one is a castle. Can you see what’s on the top? A snowflake…a clue!! It’s Arendelle meaning its the home of Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
What about the next one? Its a cartoon house…which belongs to Peppa Pig and her family!
Next theres a large white house…and that in itself is a clue! The fourth picture is the White House where the President of America lives.
Now the last picture should be a place you know well.
It’s our church! The question is do you call Werbs your home?
Let’s do a super quick recap of the past few weeks.
The sessions are still available if you missed any of them!
First we looked at AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY and if you remember Peter talked to us about how loving and amazing the first church was and how well they did community.
Then we looked at what it meant to be CHRIST-CENTRED and DJAJ did a little rap where we learnt how the first disciples knew how important Jesus was because they dropped everything to follow him and put him in the center of their lives.
And then last week Puppet Joe helped us look at TRANSFORMING THE CITY AND BEYOND.
He showed us some great ways to celebrate Werb’s 3rd birthday by doing some acts of kindness!
I have loved seeing the pictures of how you all celebrated St. Werburgh’s birthday last week.
Your acts of kindness are the best presents Werbs could ask for; changing the world around us through prayer and blessing others is the most amazing thing you can do!
I love how you have given special gifts to your neighbours and friends and how you’ve committed to praying for 3 friends, talking and inviting 3 friends to Alpha and Church and then blessing 3 (or more) people!
We really hope because you call Werbs your home, you have been doing these things in 3s.
When you think of the word HOME. What pops into your mind?
For me I think of my comfy sofa and curling up to watch TV. It’s a place I feel most comfortable, a place I belong and I can be myself.
I really hope you know that Werbs is a place where you belong and can be yourself. It is a place you can call home.
Today we’re looking at a story where Jesus talks about what it means to come home!
Check out this video below!
How good is that story?
A sheep goes missing and gets lost and what’s amazing is that, that sheep is so important to the Shepherd he will leave the other 99 to find the 1!
Can you retell the story like I did this morning in the silent movie I created?
Now think about a time when you were lost. Or maybe you lost a toy that you really really loved.
How did it feel to be lost or to loose something special to you?
Maybe draw how you felt or write down those feelings.
Our story today is called a parable. Do you remember what this means?
If not don’t worry! A parable is a story that has a special meaning or point to it. It’s a story with a different message hidden in it.
Jesus told this story about a sheep that got lost for a reason. However wanted to help us understand that God knows that we get lost and don’t always do things that are good and right. He knows that we get lost sometimes. And Jesus wants to remind us that he wants to help us stay on the right path and to not stray from His presence if we will just trust Him. But that even if we do get lost and go away from God, when we come back home there’s a HUGE party that happens!
Spend some time with God now. He loves it when we talk to him.
Think about the story of the lost sheep. Do you need to say sorry to God now and come back to him? Or do you know someone who doesn’t know God and is very far away from God that you could pray for?
CRAFT TIME!
We are DESPERATE to see what you’ve made. We would love to see your crafts and pictures and show them off at our next services online and in person! Please send a picture of ANYTHING you make from this week and Amy will include it in next week’s video!

HERE is where you can find the instructions on how to make it.
All you need is cotton wool, glue and some card.
WORSHIP
We sung this song this morning at church. We had a lot of fun doing the actions together.
‘GRACE’ is a word that means that we get something we don’t deserve. Something that we shouldn’t get but do anyway. Think about the chorus lyrics. They describe Jesus dying for us as amazing grace. We believe that Jesus died for us so that we could have a relationship with God again. As you listen to the words thank God that he sent his son so that we can have the best life.
