Hi Werb’s Kids and Werb’s Parents!

It’s EASTER SUNDAY!!
HORRAYYYYYYY!!!!

We find out today that when Jesus’ friends went back to the tomb they found it completely empty! They saw angels who told them that Jesus wasn’t in the tomb anymore because JESUS IS ALIVE!!

Jesus came back to life- this is called the resurrection and this is why we have a big party on Easter Sunday!

Jesus wasn't separated from His Father forever and that means that if we choose to follow Jesus, we can't be separated from our Father God forever either.

Isn’t Easter Sunday amazing!?
We have so much to celebrate!

I hope you know I miss you all ALOT but hope you have a fantastic day at home celebrating this incredible day with your family as we remember what God did for us.

Stay safe and stay connected!

Love Amy

if you need a recap of the Easter Story here it is below along with the amazing thing that happened on Easter Sunday!

What did Jesus’ friends find when they went to his Tomb on Easter Sunday?

JESUS IS ALIVE!!!

The Good News!

If you watched our Sunday Morning video you would have seen a special illustration to show how Jesus made us friends with God again. You can watch it again on YouTube if you missed it!

Below is the story if you’d like to read it again.

In the beginning God created us to be his very special friends.

BUT Adam & Eve made the choice to not follow God’s rules.
They thought they knew better than God and so didn’t do the things he asked them to.
They wanted to do what they wanted. We do this sometimes too don’t we.
I know there are times when I want to go my own way and turn my back on God.When we go against God, we upset Him and we cause there to be a gap between us.

This gap means God can’t get to us and we can’t get to God.
That not only makes us sad but God really REALLY sad. We couldn’t be friends with him anymore.
Although we were the ones who made the mess and created the gap God decided he would fix it and get rid of the gap forever.

God knows that we can't ever make up for all the wrong things we've done and close that gap ourselves. So He sent Jesus to die and he was separated from God so that we didn't have to be.
On Good Friday, we remembered that Jesus died on the cross for us.
Can you see what the cross has done to the gap? It has made a bridge!

That's not the end of the story, though: Jesus came back to life- this is called the resurrection and this is why we have a big party on Easter Sunday! Jesus wasn't separated from His Father forever and that means that if we choose to follow Jesus, we can't be separated from our Father God forever either – we can run across the bridge and be with God.

CRAFT IDEAS

You will probably want to do these first set of crafts on Sunday morning when all the parents are listening to the main talk in the service.

  1. Colour by numbers

  2. Activity Sheets

  3. Make a big Alleluia Poster

  4. Colour in Cross

  5. Using your map from Good Friday create the last stop on another piece of paper and stick it on! Remember Jesus is alive so the tomb is empty and all his friends are super happy!

Here are some more crafts you could do later as a family!

  1. We probably can’t make Hot Cross Buns as I had hoped by what about trying these Empty Tomb Rolls? You can find the recipe HERE
If this recipe doesn’t work for you just google Empty Tomb Rolls or Resurrection Rolls for alternative recipes!

  2. Look in your recycling and make a cross or a tomb from what you can find! GET CREATIVE!

  3. Use watercolours to paint a beautiful sunrise. Use yellow, red and orange the most but you may want to put some blue in too. Then get some paper (Preferably black but white works too) and draw a tomb with the stone rolled away. Cut your tomb out and stick it over your sunrise to create a beautiful picture of Easter Sunday Morning!

  4. Above we saw how Jesus made a bridge to help us get back to God.
Why not spend some time making your own bridge using all sorts of materials, maybe raid your recycling? Once you’ve made the bridge write over it prayers of thanks. You may need to write your prayers on separate paper and stick it on if you can’t write straight onto your bridge. Thank God that he sent Jesus. Thank God for his forgiveness.

  5. Make some Easter bunting!
I made mine by first getting some paper. Next you need to cut out some triangles.
I folded my A4 piece of paper in half and half again. Once its folded into 4 draw on your triangle and get it to fill the space.
Then cut this out whilst the paper is folded, you may need an adult to do this for you.
Once you have your triangles, decorate them! You may want to draw bunnies or Easter eggs or maybe hearts and crosses.
The last thing you need to do is attach these triangles to some string. Tape the string to the back of your bunting triangles.
