Monday 1st April // CITY

Nehemiah 1: 3-4 They said to me, “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.

When was the last time we wept, fasted and prayed for our city? When Nehemiah hears the news of what is going on in his city and the trouble they are in - he turned to God and he wept.

Our city is in trouble as well - drug addiction, alcohol addiction, poverty, loneliness, crime, anxiety, stress….so many problems that we have no way of solving. Our only solution is to come before God, to seek Him and His way  for our city. He loves it, he loves the people within it and he longs for them to know him.

So today let’s pray for our city - maybe one particular aspect of trouble, or one street, or one neighbourhood but let’s seek God’s words and will for our city and find his solutions to the problems as Nehemiah did.
